cingular sms

I switched to Cingular for my cell phone in August, and I have been mostly happy with it.

Today I got an SMS Message 67 minutes late. Has anyone else had this kind of problem with Cingular?

It doesn’t give me faith in them as a reliable service. Unfortunately, the SMS was for a server restarting at $work.

For me Cingular always delivers SMS messages reliably anywhere from 3 secs to 3-4 hrs after they are sent.

I haven’t determined if the sometimes delay is only for when its sent via the email gateway.

I’ve had similar experience to Brice… 99% of the time it delivers within 10 to 15 seconds (using the email to SMS gateway). Every once in a while it’ll be a couple hours later, but it’s not very frequent. Maybe once a month or so. Since it’s always been messages sent via the email gateway when it’s happened, I’ve always chalked it up to the general unreliability of email…

Ya, I thought it might of just been an E-Mail glitch, but this same email was sent to an external email address, which got it within 2 minutes.

If you think that’s bad, don’t try the pay-as-you-go Virgin Mobile service; I had text, and even voicemail, messages delayed for *days*. It was disastrous.

What is the SMS gateway for Cingular?

    Ok, I got ‘em…

Did you ever resolve your delay problem?
