Lies, Damn Lies, and Sun

Sun continues to contribute both code and development efforts to many Apache projects such as Tomcat, Roller, River (Jini), HTTPD, and Derby.

Sun continuing contributing to Apache httpd is news to me. As far as I know, no Apache HTTPD developer is currently employed by Sun.

While mod_atom is a cool Apache Module by Tim Bray, it does not count as httpd or Sun.

The post by Rich Green contains many other lies, which are discussed in the comments, and the wider internet.

You need a better example. That quote is really not so far off the mark, if at all. AFAIK, HTTPD is the one project where you can say “what have you done for me lately?” And mod_atom? That was developed by Sun employee Tim Bray as part of his job at Sun and it carries the Sun copyright — how is that “not Sun”?

mod_atom is not Apache HTTPD — it is a 3rd party module.
