I’m wondering if this configuration couldn’t be abused to serve static files in a reverse-proxy from cache, i.e.:

UnsetEnv no-cache

I’ll have to play with this…

While Lua, especially as an Apache module, is quite awesome, I can’t help but chuckle at the concept of “image theft”. The idea of being able to send someone a file (as part of your page) and not let them keep it kinda doesn’t make any sense. RefControl deals with this kind of nonsense nicely.

If you want to know why Lua as an Apache module is a good idea, learn the basics PHP, then of Lua.

I’m with you. As soon as I can find a reasonably priced alternative to their internet, I’m switching. Comcast is the absolute worst. Their billing is questionable, their customer service is non-existent and their packages expensive for what you get. I used to have Directv and switched for a “bundle.” I’ve had nothing but trouble ever since. All I want is the internet, but it’s cheaper with the cable, which is absolutely ridiculous.

Really, Comcast is pissing me off. When it works like it’s supposed to, it’s great and worth the money. But tonight, which was supposed to be on of those nights to hang out and do nothing, my on demand wasn’t working and it was taking 5 minutes to download 10 seconds of a simple music video on YouTube. I understand that there may be OCCASIONAL issues that slow down service, but this happens once a week or so. Maybe I should call and get a 4 hour window of when they can come check it out, which just happens to be when, like most people, I have to be at work. Can I schedule a sunday appointment, and inconvenience THEM for once? On top of that, our bill just went up, so my wife and I are planning on looking for a different service already. Don’t know why it went up, my lady takes care of the finances.

Matus: It does, however it’s no worse than being able to only have a single SSL listener on an IP/port combo- attacker will know which site you are connecting to. No good answer there, sorry- in order to establish a secure channel you need to identify with who you are trying to establish ths secure channel (unless you go for multilevel authentication… which would be just a mess with little to no benefit)

Someday…. hopefully the near future, some company will figure out a way to offer intetrnet/tv service equal or better than Comcast at a fair cost. I absolutely despise Comcast…. their customer service is the worst; their packages are crazy expensive, and their screw-ups are so ridiculous and senseless. I hate not being able to get something comparable in my area. I’m trying to drive a nice honda accord with Comcast, but the damn car is running like a pinto from the 70’s.

Good to see some healthy debate on the topic. It really gripes me when benchmarks are used as propaganda

Personally, I think web-server choice depends on your needs and a simple, “lighty is faster” is just obviously not the case. Performance will depend on many things, config, usage scenario, system config, etc…

Personally I use Apache, mostly for the power, flexibility and maturity of the software but am just looking into lighttpd for it’s ‘fast’ static file serving

If you have no access to hooks on destination mirror (like in the case of SourceForge.net SVN repositories, you might find AXE SVN Sync as a valid alternative to svnsync, since it does not require exclusive access to the destination repository).

Mail headers suck. I’m surprised there aren’t french, spanish, and portuguese translations of “quoted printable” on there. All the fields suck but I remember mail header date formats being the most wildly random, back when I had to worry about that.

Also, this:
